How I Got Rid of Black Mould in My Shower
I had black mould in the shower and to get rid of it I used my favourite Zoflora product. I had taken Zoflora and sprayed the shower down and let it sit for a few minutes. And then I used a scrubbing brush to remove all the spores.
I even did the shower head by adding 2 caps of Zoflora to a packet and then tying the packet to the shower head and gently filling the bag with water until it was full. I let the shower head soak in the bag of Zoflora solution for an hour. This process got rid of all the dirt and mould growing inside the shower head.
Every time I see a hint of black mould growing, I simply spray the area with my trusty Zoflora solution and then wipe the spores away.
What Causes Mould in the Shower?
Mould loves areas where there’s plenty of moisture. When you shower, it creates steam that causes puddles to pool up in corners. Water from the showerhead also splashes onto the walls making them wet. If you don’t dry areas in your bathroom it can cause mould to grow.
Furthermore, bathrooms aren’t well ventilated so it causes the humidity in the bathroom to rise. Your bathroom will take longer to dry, thus creating a breeding ground for mould.
Another way mould is produced is when body oils or soap scum splash onto surfaces while you’re showering. These elements are food sources for mould.
Where Does Mould Grow in Showers?
The most common place you’ll find mould growth is between your tiles on the grouting. You can also find black spores around your window frame if it’s in your shower. Here are other common places you’ll find mould growth in the shower:
- Around drains
- Around the shower door
- Under shampoo bottles
- Behind shower tiles or silicone
- On shower curtains
- On shower caulking
